For over twenty years I started my Science class basically the same way. I would have my students complete a short warm up that either introduced a new topic or reviewed something we had already learned. I found them very effective and gave my class structure and my students had something to focus on.

I have started creating Science Quiz videos that you can use as a warm up or some people call a bell ringer. Each quiz is 5 to 10 questions and covers a specific topic. Hopefully they will save you some time and add some variety to your class.
